Yes, I am still alive.

Well folks it's been a while!
Life has decided to throw some crazy curve balls at us so we've been keeping busy!

I won't go into too much detail but we've been blessed with a wonderful service opportunity/missionary experience and we have been doing our best to take full advantage of it.

But this experience has definitely backed up my previous post about how we should be kind to everyone we meet because they are all fighting a hard battle.

I have loved this opportunity because i've been able to share the joy that the gospel brings into my life with some people that have lived in darkness so long. People that never even knew that real, pure happiness was attainable. People that think life is about just surviving, having no idea about the wonderful plan that Heavenly Father has made for them. People who had no idea how bright their future could be if they turned to the Savior instead of trying to face this world alone.
People who need love.

I was lucky enough to be sealed to my best friend in the house of the Lord and because of the knowledge of the eternal love that our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ have for us, we are able to share that love with these people and teach them that it is accessable to them no matter who they are or what they've done.

Of course it's hard sometimes.
Of course things can be going great one second then all come crashing down the next.

Satan is good at his job.
He sucks, but he's good at his job.
There must be opposition in all things.
And if that's the case, why focus on the bad?
We know it's there.

Ignore it.

Positivity is key.

A man came into my work today. Very large, had trouble breathing while talking, probably in his 60s. He looked tired. My immediate thought was, this guy could be Santa Claus.
That thought was diminished quickly considering the whole 5min he was here he didn't smile once.

He came in to make a payment on his insurance, and I noticed a unique necklace around his neck. I asked him what it was and it was a token that implied he had diabetes. He went on to tell me that technically the diabetes had taken his life twice already. (still a chance he's santa, he lives forever) anyway, I responded with "wow! you must have some work to do here if youre still around after all that!" Apparently he'd heard that one before when he responded with "I'll tell you what I told my little religious mother when she said the same thing to me, I said thats a bunch of crap! Either I'm too rotten that the devil doesn't even want me, or God is keeping me here to suffer."

What do you say to that?

Me being the  Alittle-too-peppy-for-your- negative-atttitude-to-bring-me-down kinda girl that i am, just laughed and said "don't be ridiculous"

I continued to tell him about my friend Beth, a 96 year old woman who I used to walk her little poodle every morning for.
Beth was a very small frail widow who told me every single day I went to see her that she wanted to die. and wanted to know why she was still here, she should've died years ago.

I loved talking to Beth. I loved looking through her old photo albums and listening to her stories and trying to make her laugh, which was hard, but when it happened it was hilarious. Watching old ladies laugh is one of simple pleasures in life. And when we ran out of things to talk about, we would talk about chocolate. She considered herself a "chocoholic" which is probably why we got along so well.

Anyway, one particular day Beth was having a hard time with the fact that she just wouldn't die. I didn't quite know what to say, so I sat there for a minute then said "Beth, maybe you're still alive so that we could be friends." She nodded and said "maybe."
I never heard her complain about being alive again.

We only knew each other for about 2 months. And I found out that she passed away a few months ago.
She finally got her wish, but I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to know her.

She never did or said anything that drastically changed my life, never left me with any words of wisdom (at least that I remember) but she was my friend and that what was important. We had fun when we were together.

So maybe this santa guy just needed someone to be his friend and he wouldn't have been such a negative nancy.

Be kind.

Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Well sheesh! Enough of that. These serious posts... What have I become?!
And no pictures? Props to you if you made it through this whole post.
I'll get funny again one of these days.

For now I'll let Jon be the funny one-

"I'd rather eat something I don't like that someone else made, then make something I do like myself."
He's lucky he married a good wife ;)

I know there were more but I just can't remember them!!
Next time.

Easter

Wow! These past few weeks have flown by! Flown is a word right?
Whatever. Jon and I have been busy busy! Some things have been changing, so our schedules are going to be lined up perfectly! Which will be awesome!
we'll actually get so see eachother! hooray!

First things first. My dear sweet car has died. actually just the battery (hopefully) so while we wait to fix that, I get to drive Jon's car. Which he has always claimed is "his wife's car" because its super girly. actually not really, its just very unmanly. haha
so anyway, the reason ive never driven it before is because its manual and I have no idea how to drive stick. So... he explained it to me last night before i fell asleep and then I just went for it the next morning on my way to work. Not as hard as I anticipated. so that was an adventure.

Anyway.
Some how we've been extremely lucky when it comes to buying appliances for our home.
And by lucky I mean blessed.
My parents neighbors just bought all new appliances so they were getting rid of their "old" ones.
(Still look brand new)
So hey, how about a fridge for $40. I'm okay with that.

It's kind of huge. Not sure where I'm going to put it yet.

Also the other day I didn't have to work till 3  and since the weather was absolutely amazing I decided to go out and explore the yard and play with the dogs, and at the bottom of our field there is a little pond. It was funny to see Rusty play in the water, and look what I found!
I tried to get Japser to go after it, but he swam too fast :)

Anywho Easter was awesome.

Let's get real for a second, Easter is the time to celebrate the resurection of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the opportunity that we have to live again and be with our families forever! One of my favorite Easter Poems is Empty Linen. I first read it while I was sitting in the chapel in the Provo temple doing baptisms, reading out of the Ensign. And I loved it, then in the following conference, I believe it was President Monson that read that poem. I was so happy! And then for my birthday my mom gave me this- In a frame, and it's in my house.

Love it.

But now for the fun stuff! Easter was a busy day. It started off with my alarm going off at 6 so that I could get up and give Jon a haircut and then make cookies for the potluck at Grandmas. Needless to say I didn't get up until about 8 (it's physically impossible to get out of bed before the sun rises.)
But when I did finally get up, I noticed a little something on the fridge...

hahahha
This led me on an "early" morning egg hunt!!
Jon loved watching me search for the eggs, he couldn't stop laughing.
Apparently I still get as excited to find eggs as a little kid does.
Like I care though, I got 12 eggs filled with candy!

So after that, cookieless me, and long haired Jon hurried our way to go Grandma #1's house.
We went to her 9am church, the only time I question the truthfullness of the gospel is when church is at 9am.

Just kidding.
But seriously.

9am is hard stuff.
But we went to church then had another Easter egg hunt!
Which is a family tradition. They hide about 150 each year.
We found all except 2 and apparently that happens every year?
Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

Then we ate some amazingggg food and played kickball, which is another Easter tradition on the LaRue side. I'm not going to bother talking about which team won, because it wasn't mine.

After that we made our way to Grandma #2's house. We couldn't stay there too long because we had to go see my family of course!! So we ate some more good food and headed to my parents.

This was Rusty's first time going on a drive longer than 5 min in the truck. He doesn't get as excited as Jasper to go in the truck. He's rather be sitting on my lap in the front.

He thinks he's a lap dog.

I love seeing my family and spending time with them! We ate some candy, played with the dogs and then went to the farm to see my brother's goats, they just had babies!! Aren't they're the cutest things ever!? They look like little bunnies haha

You want one now don't you?

We also had the best dessert in the whole world, shout out to my mama for making what i like to call amazing love. I don't even know what it's really called because I just love it so much i call it amazing love. you should try it sometime.
I'm hungry just thinking about it.
It's so different when youre married and you have to go see everyone instead of just your family on holidays. Sometimes it's hard to fit everyone in, but we make it work. I love spending time with both Jon's family and of course my own.

So my latest conversion, although it wasn't because Jon influenced me,
I just tried them and loved them, are Sun Chips.
OH MY GOSH why didn't anyone ever force me to eat those? I missed out during my childhood, passing up sun chips for cheetos, or something ridiculous like that.
 I'm ashamed.

But oh well. Anyway time for Quotes from Jon:

After asking him to turn down the tv- "I can't hear over my cereal."

What?

Later!
